AI saves lives, like Batman.

Jumbos kill people.

“Jumbos” are huge machines used to mine the rare materials. These materials are needed for your iPhone, car, and WiFI to work. Since 2000, 48 miners died in Australia alone from mining accidents, many involving jumbos.

Today, I met with a customer in Australia. They’re working on a project that analyzes sensor data from jumbos in real-time. The system flows data from thousands of sensors embedded in jumbos into AI. Streaming data science algorithms predict and fix problems before they happen. They use streaming visual analytics to visualize that data and dynamic learning to adapt and learn from inputs as they change.

The AI algorithm in this project is like Batman, silently sitting in his mansion, thinking, ready to save lives.

The world is full of fear over AI. The truth is, AI is more like Batman.
